Vicente Fox, president of Mexico from 2000 to 2006, gave some advice to Lex’s John Authers on Thursday: Germany should bite the bullet and bail Greece out. The benefits, he says, would outweigh the cost. And he’s speaking from experience. “Someone has to have the audacity to do what president [Bill] Clinton did with Mexico in 1994 – just say, here’s $50bn. Two quarters later Mexico’s economy was in full, aggressive recovery and we paid him back four years in advance,” Fox said.
